6th of July marks the release of NAHOM’s (formally Nahom Yonas) debut album – “Indigo”. Just over 20 years old, Nahom made a mark mainly on southern Sweden’s underground scene after 2017 years release of the album’s title track “Indigo”, which at today’s date has been streamed just under half a million times on Spotify. The single “Save Me” was released in February 2018 with an accompanying music video (produced by Malmö-based Guerrilla Collective) – and today, “Indigo” can be listened to in its entirety. Check it out!

Nahom Yonas has made a name for himself on Malmö’s underground scene in no time. Originally hailing from Lomma outside Lund, Nahom has at the modest age of 21 already opened for some of Sweden’s biggest hip-hop acts, such as Jireel, Parham and Guleed, and has already started to establish himself as an energetic, present and mature live act. Early 2018, Nahom made it to the finals in Red Bull Music’s talent scouting project ”Nästa Nivå” (Next Level), led by Cherrie, Erik Lundin, Lamix and Dani M. Yonas is also an avid poet, having participated in the nation-wide poetry slam “Ortens bästa poet” (Projects’ best poet) in 2017.

Today, on the 6th of July, NAHOM finally releases his debut album “Indigo”. The title track was released almost a year ago, and gave us just a taste of what was to come. Almost 500 thousand streams later, Nahom dropped single “Save Me”, acclaimed by TechN9ne’s Independent Grind as a “Heavy Hitter” and came to earn support from other big Swedish names, such as Leslie Tay and Ikhana.

With an accompanying music video (watch it here), produced by Malmö-based Guerrilla Collective – the road was paved for what was to become NAHOM’s first full length album – INDIGO.

- I wanted to reveal all of my artistic sides and still keep it together in an attractive way. Singing, rapping, even saxophone playing – it’s all in there, says Nahom.

”INDIGO” glues all kinds of modern influences together with a sound reminiscent of artists such as Bryson Tiller and Oliver Francis. With his base solidified in hip-hop, his experimentations with RnB, dancehall and trap adds it all up to an eclectic mix with a highly international hallmark. All of the tracks on “Indigo” have been produced by Swedish producer duo ByAnyMeans, with guest appearances from Jade, League, Christian and Winta.

- Everything’s been done with great care. No fillers, every track has a function and makes up a whole. Every feature, everyone that’s helped me out are people that mean a lot to be. We created something great together and we had fun. That’s a lot more worth than the “fame and glory”, Nahom says about the record.
